Questions from editors

Which events can you cover?

Press conferences, hearings and election-night speeches. If you have another live event in mind, ask us.

Is the brief ready to publish?

No. It is a draft written by AI from the live transcript. Use it to move faster and have an editor check it.

How fast is the transcript?

Key words are flagged about 0.1 s after the audio reaches us, usually before the speaker has finished the word; about one word in ten takes up to 0.8 s. How the audio reaches us adds time on top: a public livestream adds 2 to 5 seconds.

Do we need to install anything?

No. Coverage opens in a web browser.

Where can I see current coverage?

On the live coverage page, with archives of past events.

Can we build our own tools on it?

Yes. The same speech-to-text is available as an API. See Saidwire for developers.
