What this is, and who we are

Saidwire is a new company. We built it to help newsrooms cover more live events than their staff could get to, and to help news teams without the resources of the big stations and national outlets compete with them on speed and accuracy.

While the speaker is still talking, our system listens to the live event and produces three things for your desk:

  • A running story, in AP style, rewritten every minute or two as the event goes.
  • Ready-to-post drafts for X and the web, shown here the way they would look posted. Every quote is checked word for word against the audio, and each carries the second it was said.
  • A live transcript, copy-edited for names and punctuation, never paraphrased.
  • Wire bulletins: one line in capitals with the time, the way the wires flash a desk.

When an event has several speakers, only the main speaker's own words are attributed to them: reporters' questions, warm-up speakers and the crowd are never put in their mouth.

You may publish any of it under your own byline. Quotes are verbatim; context lines are a reporter's paraphrase and you should treat them as a draft to check, as you would a wire's.

This event is free as a pilot, no sign-up and no card. Partway through we will ask once, in a small box, how it is going and whether you would like us to reach out. After this event, the same coverage of every event we run is $49 a week for a newsroom, or $10 for a single event. If you would rather just help us keep doing this, there is a place to chip in below.

Saidwire is independent. We are not affiliated with any speaker, agency or market, and we never say who is using the coverage.

The transcript starts when the event begins.

Keep this for your newsroom

This event is free. Here is how to have it for the next one, and how to help a small company keep building it.

Quotes are verbatim from the live audio. “Said” is when the words were spoken; “drafted” is when we wrote the post. Questions: support@saidwire.com.
