DHS official says Texas "lone Star" operation removed 4,107 illegal aliens in 10 days, over 60% with criminal backgrounds

A second official said the five-office operation produced 879 criminal arrests, crediting state, county and local partners, as the event's speakers press the case for cooperation over sanctuary policies.

A speaker who referred to the Department of Homeland Security as "we" said a 10-day, statewide operation called "Lone Star" resulted in the removal of 4,107 illegal aliens in Texas, more than 60% of whom had criminal backgrounds. The transcript tags the speakers as OTHER SPEAKER? and does not name the first one; the figures are the officials' own claims and could not be verified from the transcript.

Operation details

Miguel Vergara, who identified himself as field office director for ERO Dallas, said Mission Lone Star involved all five ERO field offices in Texas: Dallas, El Paso, Harlingen, Houston and San Antonio. He said the operation produced 879 criminal arrests of individuals "with final orders posting danger to the community and national security in just a few days." The transcript does not explain how the 879 arrests relate to the 4,107 removals.

Vergara cited one case, Orlando Aguilar, whom he described as previously removed with a removal order and with a criminal history including felony intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and a second-offense DWI. The name was captured by automatic transcription and may be misspelled.

Cooperation with local agencies

Both officials credited state, county and local law enforcement. Vergara thanked agencies including the Wise County sheriff's office, the Wichita Falls sheriff's office, the Cisco Police Department and the Young County sheriff's office, and pointed to coordination under what the transcript renders as "89 g," likely a reference to Section 287(g) agreements. Some of the agency names appear garbled in the transcript.

Sanctuary policy criticism

The first speaker directed pointed criticism at "sanctuary politicians," saying their policies support "gangbangers," "child pedophiles," "rapists" and "cartels." He also said that since President Trump took office, authorities had arrested 2,168 "terrorists," distinguishing them from people on a terrorist watch list, and said murder rates had dropped to a "126 year low" and violent crime to 30- and 40-year lows. None of those figures could be verified from the transcript.

I

used

me stand

have a little

like

So

we can

work

in front

of

to

as

well,

sir.

Perfect.

of the message.

Okay.

That's a good.

Well,

thank

you

guys

for

being

here.

I

want

to

thank

everybody

That's

saying to

behind

me

in

and the

great

work

that

they

do.

Truly

keep

Our

streets

and

our

towns.

Our

cities,

and

our

states

safe.

By

going

after

the

worst,

the

Worst.

Today

we're

talking

about

a

particular

Mission

that

took

place

over

the

Last

10

days.

It

was

called

a

Lone

Star

mission.

And

it

a

what

you

will

see

is

when

we

have

cooperation,

we

as

a

the

federal

Government,

We

as

Department

of

Homeland Security

If

when

we

Have...

cooperation

with

the

state,

from

The

state

to

the

county

to

the

local

law

enforcement.

We

can

go

after

the

worst

the

worst.

And

we

can

get

them

off

our

streets.

We

Can we

can

bring

crime

down.

We

can

allow

people

to

build

a

able to

walk

through

their

streets

and

their

towns.

safe.

And

Unfortunately,

I

just

want

to

keep

you

in

mind,

unfortunately,

underneath

The

previous

administration,

underneath

the

Biden

administration,

We

had

a

flood.

Of

criminals

that

came

across

our

streets.

Our

came

across

our

borders

and

entered

into

our

Towns

and

walked

through

our

streets.

And

And

just

to

give

You

know

some

rough

numbers

on

this,

to

really

get

you

to

understand

just

tariffs

a

alone,

since

President

Trump

came

into

office

and

he

brought

back

law

and

order.

He

Brought

back

common

sense.

He

brought

back

the

ability

to

Enforce

our

nation's

laws.

We

were

asked

arrested

2

168,

terraced.

It's

Not

I

including

all

the

criminals

that

we

arrest.

These

are

terrorists.

Not

terrorist

watch

lists.

These

We're

or

were

terrorists that

were

let

into

this

Country

underneath

the

previous

administration.

You

Think

about

that.

And

then

you

start

thinking

about

all

the

Drug

activity

that

came

across.

You

think

about

the

fentanyl

epidemic

that

took

place

where

we

we're

We're

losing

more

More kids.

More

sisters,

more

brothers,

more

moms,

more

Dads.

And

one

year.

Than

we

would

Lose

in

entire

conflict

or

we

lost

in

an

entire

conflict

for

America.

From

America

casualties

during

Vietnam.

And

in

affected

everybody.

Everybody

standing

here

knows

somebody

that's

affected

by

the

Fentanyl

crisis.

And

that

was

because

of

Our

open

border

and

our

policies

from

the

Biden

administration.

But

God, the

Trump

for

coming

in

and

Empowering

us

to

enforce

our

nation's

laws.

We're

able

to

See

the

crime

rate

drop.

We're

able

to

see

Murder rate

rates

drop

to

126

-year

low.

We're

Seeing

violent

crimes

drop

to

30

and

40

-year

lows.

We're

seeing

fentanyl

Overdoses

go

backwards

for

the first

first

time.

Because

we're

In

enforcing

our

nation's

laws.

And

I

say

this

all

the

time.

The

Barbara

a

Hole

and Security

didn't.

make

these

laws.

Congress made

these

laws.

And

we

enforce

The

laws.

That

Congress

passed.

Why

is

it's

controversial

for

us

to

enforce

those

laws?

I

have

no

idea.

Protecting

our

homeland

should

never

be

controversial.

Doing

our

job

and

having

having

Like

a

lone

star

mission

where

we

take

over

4

,100

Criminals

off

our

streets

and

10

days.

Why

is

that?

Controversial?

You

We

should

all

want

to

be

safe in

our

communities.

And

if

Congress

doesn't

like

the

laws,

we're

enforcing,

they

have

the

ability

to

change

those.

and

guess

what? If

they

changed

them.

all

these

men

and

women

behind

me.

And

they

the

entire

Department

of

Department

of

Homeland Security,

We would

enforce

those

laws.

We

don't

pick

and

choose

which

laws

We

enforce.

We

simply

enforce

our

nation's

laws.

When

he

sees

seek

Cooperation

like

we've

had

over

the

last

10

days

throughout

the

state

of

Texas.

And

Removing

4

,107

illegal

aliens

in

just

10

Days

and

over

60%

percent

of

those

individuals.

Had

a

Criminal

background.

They

I

should

have

never

been

on

our

streets.

We're able

to

make

long

Lone

Star

State.

Safer.

It

We're

allowed

We're

able

to

make

the

Communities

within

Texas

safer.

And

we're

able

to

do

it

without

fanfare.

As

these

men

and

women

that

that

Are

going

out

there

every

single

day

taking

the

worst

the

worst off

the

streets,

are

Or simply

doing

the

job

they

love.

As

protecting

you

and

I.

It's

protecting

your

backyard,

protecting

my

backyard,

and

even

if

you

don't

Agree

with

what

they're

doing,

they're

still

protecting

you.

And

they're

protecting

your

family.

And

As

So I

want

to

thank

those.

that

participated

in

this.

And

I

want

to

point

out

to

Our

sanctuary

politicians.

This

is

what

cooperation looks like.

Like.

This

is

what

law

and

order looks

like.

This

is

what

safety

looks.

Like.

And

when

you

support

sanctuary

policies,

Or

are

supporting

our

You're

supporting

child

pedophiles.

You're

supporting rapist.

rapist.

You're

supporting

cartels?

You're

supporting

organized

crime.

There

is

no

humanitarian

policy

that

create

a

sanctuary

city

because

it

creates

a

Safe

haven.

For

It creates

safe

haven

for

those

criminals.

To

call

your

sanctuary

city

home.

And

then

they

Terrorize

your

community.

So who

are

you

protecting?

You're

in

Texas.

for

protecting

Their

state.

They're

protecting

those

that

respect

the

law

and

Order.

Here

in

Texas,

they're

keeping

the

people

safe.

Because

This

It's

What

They're

They've

sworn

to

do.

We

should

all

do

that.

And

as

I

stand

here

in

front

of

you,

I

couldn't

be...

More

proud

of

the

work

they

did.

And

thank

you

for

the

cooperation

we

had

from

our

Partners.

From

state,

local,

AI.

And

County.

It's

not

possible

to

do

it

without

your

help.

Very,

vital

part

of

it.

So

with

that,

I'm

going

to

turn

it

over

to

I don't

all

the

speaking

order

here

is.

Here

we

go

next.

Okay,

Sir.

Good

I

afternoon,

Everybody.

My name is

I am

I'm the

5

VRO

offices

field

offices

within

the

state of

Texas.

We're going

Together

with

state

county

and

local.

Sharing

information

to court

Coordinate,

collaborate.

To

identify,

Locate

target,

and

in

arrest

individuals

who

pose

threat

to

national security.

Public

safety.

Have

a

long

criminal

histories

Or

have

a

final

order

removed

from

the

United

States.

Example

of

That.

Is

Mr.

Orlando

Aguilar.

An

alien,

previously

removed

from

The

United

States

with

a

removal

order.

We'll

also

have

a

Criminal

history

including

felony,

intoxication,

assault,

with

vehicle,

causing

serious

bodily

injury

and

these

DWI

second

Offense.

And

this

is

just

one.

of

the

many

cases

that

ICE

encounters

Every

day.

Every

single

day.

Mission

long

Lone

Star

included

the

a collaborative

effort

as

I

said,

included

all

five

ERO

field

offices

in

the

state

of

Texas.

That

is

Dallas.

El

Paso,

Harlingen,

Houston,

and

San

Antonio.

But

we

couldn't

have

done

it

alone.

Let

the

Secretary

said.

It

Required

cooperation

from

the

state,

from

the

county,

and

the

local

officials.

So

some of them

are

here

with

us

today and

we

are

so

very

grateful

for

what

they

Do

because

working

with

us,

they

show

up

just

like

we

do, show

up

every

day.

putting a

long

hours,

work

difficult

cases.

and

they

do

it

Professionally.

Some

of

the

some

of

the

agencies

that

are

here

with

us

today

that

I

want

to

recognize

include

the

York

County

Sheriff's

Office,

which

it

Falls.

Sheriff

Sheriff's

office.

He

Will

barge

County

Sheriff

Office.

The

Cisco

Police

Department,

And

the

Young

County.

Sheriff

Office.

There

are

many

more.

I'm

just

only

highlighting

a

few.

Something

else

I

want

to

point

Out

is

that

the

great

partnership,

in

Coordination, they

they've

with

through

to 287(g).

that

A

lot

of

the

agencies

in

the

state

of

Texas,

that

coordination,

that

are

having

with

federal

agencies

to

make

sure

Results

like

the

ones

we're

sharing

today

take

place.

This

Constant

cooperation

made

taxes

like

today,

possible.

Possible

in

the

sense

of

that we

were

able

to

have

effect

879

arrests,

criminal

arrests, in

individuals

with

Final

orders,

posing

danger

to

the

community

in

national security

and

in

Just

a

few

days.

And

going

to

I've

have

been

possible

without

them.

Without

their

Help.

And

their

core

cooperation.

So

in

Closing,

you

in

a

echo in

the

and

Secretary

Today's

what

we

shared.

Today,

matters.

Matters

because

it

keeps

communities

safe.

It

keeps

our

country

Safe.

So

one

want to

recognize

briefly

the

Ensemble

heroes

that

are

not

here at

in

the

podium

with

me.
